Who Framed Roger Rabbit?   (1988 - DVD)
Director: Robert Zemeckis
Starring: Bob Hoskins, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Cassidy, Charles Fleischer, Stubby Kaye

It's 1947 Hollywood and Eddie Valiant (Hoskins), a down-on-his-luck detective, is hired to find proof that Marvin Acme, gag factory mogul and owner of Toontown, is playing hanky-panky with femme fatale Jessica Rabbit, wife of Maroon Cartoon superstar, Roger Rabbit. Wehn Acme is found murdered, all fingers point to Roger, and the sinister, power-hungry Judge Doom (Lloyd) is on a mission to bring Roger to justice. Roger begs the Toon-hating Valiant to find the real evildoer and the plot thickens as Eddie uncovers scandal after scandal and realizes the very existence of Toontown is at stake! Who Framed Roger Rabbit is deliciously outrageous fun the whole family will enjoy.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was released in the theater in 1988. It is based in 1947, in Toontown, a place where ‘toons and humans exist side-by-side. Eddie Valiant, played by Bob Hoskins, is a toon-hating P.I. hired by Roger Rabbit to follow his “cheating” wife Jessica. Things quickly go south from there for the ‘toon star, Roger. It seems he’s been framed for the murder of a Hollywood big wig.

Watching this movie is a like a blast from the past. It is chock full of classic cartoon characters from Disney, Warner Bros. and more, who make cameo appearances throughout. This movie is significant in movie making history because of groundbreaking interactions between live and animated characters.

One thing that I found curious about this movie, is that while there is a significant number of Hollywood “names” that had roles in this movie, the voice of Roger Rabbit is performed by a man who has an extensive list of voice performances but is not the big name that this caliber of movie would probably call for today.
