Teacher Free-Rental Program
To help support the schools, we offer a Teacher Rental Program for teachers wanting movies to supplement their classroom teaching.
Any public school teacher in Yamhill County can rent any 7-night movie for free. If a teacher needs an item longer than 7-nights, call to rerent. Otherwise, late fees are the responsibility of the teacher.
Honor Roll Program
Each student who gets a 3.5 GPA or higher per trimester can bring their report card in, show us, and we'll let them rent 1 item for free. This program is for 6th through 12th grades and college level.
Win a Free Rental
Each week we will ask a movie trivia question. You submit your answer by emailing info@macmovietime.com or telling
an employee at the store what you think the answer is. If emailing, make sure you include your first and last name and phone number (phone won’t be included with winner’s name)
so we can add the free rental to your account. They will log your answer and if correct, your name will be added to the drawing. ALL CORRECT SUBMISSIONS UP
THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING EACH WEEK (you do not need to be the first to reply) will be entered into a drawing for one free movie rental with the winner announced in the following week’s newsletter.
Special Orders
Let us help you purchase DVDs! We will offer competitive pricing on most DVDs and Blu-rays available for sale. We require a $5 nonrefundable deposit to place the order, and turnaround time can be less than 48 hours if an item is in stock.
Email Notifications
Would you like an email notification to remind you when an item is due and/or past due? These are sent in the morning and a great reminder for busy schedules. Email info@macmovietime.com
to sign up or next time you're in the store, ask the employee who helps you to add your email to your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to sign up for an account?
We require you be 18 years of age, have a driver's license or identification card, and a valid credit card to open an account. If you are a Linfield College student, you will also need your student identification card.
How did you decide to move into an old house?
Movietime used to be located in the Roth's parking lot next to Subway. We were quickly outgrowing that space and began looking for a larger space on the south end of town. During the search, we came across this old house that was zoned for commerical use and would triple our space. It had great visibility to the highway and kept us on the south end of McMinnville.
Plus, we thought it would make a cool store!
Is there more parking?
We have a total of 7 parking spaces (directly behind the store and marked with Movietime Video) in the shared lot with El Primo,
and El Primo has the rest. We have agreed to share the spaces during the slower times (basically, any time except dinner on
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Otherwise, we both ask our customers to respect each other's business and try to park accordingly.
There is additional parking on Edmunston Street and Blaine Street to accomodate overflow.
Can I rent online?
At this time you cannot rent online. You can view the store movie and game database online to see if the title you are looking for is available or checked out, but you cannot rent online.
What if I'm late with my movie or game?
6:00 PM is the due back time on the date your movie or game is due. We can send you an email reminder (or even make a phone call if you request) on the day that your item is due back. If you cannot get your item back, then a late fee will be charged. We prorate our late fees depending on how many rental days. For example, a 2-night rental will be charged a $1.85 rental fee for each day it is late. A 7-night rental will be charged $0.35 per day it is late.
Can I re-rent a movie or game over the phone?
Yes, if you have prepaid rentals on your account you can re-rent a movie or game over the phone. Call us at 503-472-1925 and let us know that you want to re-rent. We will check the item back out to you and use a prepaid rental. If you do NOT have prepaid rentals on your account, we will charge a late fee for each day the item is late, but we won't call you if you tell us how long you plan to keep the item.
What are prepaid rentals?
Prepaid rentals are basically movie or game rentals that you purchase in advance. These go on your account and they are yours to use on any movie or game rental in the store or on late fees. Plus, they don't expire! We offer three prepaid rental packages. The first is the 10-for-$25 package where you get 10 rentals for $25 ($2.50 per rental, and a $12.50 savings when used on 10 New Releases that would normally cost $3.75 each!). The second is the 25-for-$50 package ($2.00 per rental and a $43.75 savings!). The third is the 100-for-$175 package ($1.75 per rental and savings of $200 over your next 100 rentals!).
I am a teacher wanting to show a movie to my classroom. Can you help?
Yes - we love to support our schools! We have a "Teacher Free Rental Program" for any teacher at a government-funded school that is wanting to show movies for educational purposes to their class. Each McMinnville school has its own account and schools in the rest of Yamhill County are listed under their district (i.e. Sheridan School District, Amity School District, etc.). We allow teachers to rent any 7-night rental (prior release) for FREE. If you find you need the item longer, just call to re-rent it over the phone. Otherwise, each teacher is responsible for late fees accrued.
Do you rent video games?
Yes! We offer an incredible number of game titles for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Within each category, new games are 3-night rentals and older games are 7-night rentals.
Do you rent hardware for video games?
We have Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii consoles you can rent for 3-nights for $15 per system, and only $5 for each additional night after that. A $50 deposit is required. In addition, you can rent individual Xbox 360, PS3, or Nintendo Wii controllers.
How can I get an instruction book with my game rental?
Instruction booklets are free to rent with the game, but we do require a $5.00 deposit. The deposit is fully refundable upon return of the instruction booklet as long as it's not ripped or torn.
Employment
How it works
We accept applications on a continuing basis and rarely advertise when there’s an opening. We review applications every couple of months and keep those that meet the requirements listed below (see “What we look for,” below). When a position opens we will call the top applicants whose applications are from the last 6 months. If you would like to be considered for any future openings you will need to re-apply every six months.
What we look for
We look for a combination of two qualities before considering any other qualifications:
- We look for individuals who are personable, genuinely friendly, and outgoing. We are looking for enthusiastic team players who really enjoy working with all personality types. The ability to maintain a helpful, calm and positive attitude during all customer situations is essential.
- We also look for individuals who possess a large and broad knowledge of film. You do not need to be a walking IMDB.com – passion and a desire to learn is sometimes more desirable. That said, you should know, for example, who Martin Scorsese is; who Akira Kurosawa is. You should be able to name a few Coen Brothers’ films. You don’t need to have seen everything, but you need to be able to carry on a conversation.
Basic job description
Above all, this is a customer service job. You will be required to maintain a positive and helpful attitude during all customer interactions, as well as with co-workers. You will be explaining and promoting in-store programs and support and promote out-of-store sponsored programs. You will be required to become familiar with the store’s inventory as well as the films customers are asking about. Not only will you be required to help customers find the films they are looking for, but you will provide recommendations based on the customers’ taste in film.
In addition to customer service you will process returns and rent out inventory, maintain organization and alphabetizing, clean, and stock concessions. You will be using a computerized check out and point of sale system and you will perform report printing. You will be expected to read and promote our weekly email newsletter, social media, and in-store displays. You will be required to call customers who are due and late with returns. You will be required to call customers who are on our reservation waiting list. You will also help customers with special orders, resurfacing discs, and explaining our VHS to DVD conversion program.
Along the way other projects may arise. Above all it is important to be ready for anything, have fun, and smile!
